Pride Was a Blast!
Thanks to everyone who made this years pride a very special event. To the veteran members whom have done pride before and the new members who experienced it for the first time, we say well done for your hard work on the day in spite of all the rain!
Pictures will go up as soon as they have been collected from various sources. Roll on 2011!
Count Down to Pride!
As with previous years, the group is eagerly anticipating this years pride. Be sure to watch out for us in the parade along with the B.yoU Project and members from Just Us. The theme is 'Wigan through the decades' and a number of us are dressing in costumes from the decades of the last one hundred years.
Be sure to stick around and you might just see a fantastic bit of choreography we have been working on during our planning work shops.
We hope to see you there and that you have a lovely festive weekend!
Congratulations!
A quick note to congratulate both Sye and Dan on the recent completion of a Health and Nutrition course. OMG were able to offer this course through Wigan CVS which is accredited by the National Institute for Enviromental Health.
Well done guys!
(There are palces on other courses still available to any OMG member living in Wigan who wants to get involved, contact us for more details, don't miss out!)
Upcoming Events
OMG will be attending some events in the near future to help spread the word about our services. On the 24th of August we will have a stall at the 'Young Volunteers Recruitment Fair & Celebration Event' (to be confirmed.) From that we hope not only to get people who might be interested in becoming a member of volunteer of OMG involved, but also let other third sector organisations know who we are and what we are upto.
We are also at Wigan and Leigh college on the 9th of September for their annual student expo, where we get the chance to go in and let the students know who we are and what we do.
If anyone fancies helping out at any of these events, contact one of the commitee.
CVS Training Available
Wigan & Leigh CVS are running a series of free training courses to the third sector (thats us,) any members willing to grab this oppertunity and earn credits with the Open College Network towards a level two qualification should get in touch. Either email us, contact Sye, or check out the CVS website for more info.
